2012-13

   Faculty & Staff Campaign

"Moving Forward -- Possible Is Everything"

Dear Colleagues:

The 2012-2013 Faculty Staff campaign will soon be underway, led by campaign chair Lisa Kujawa.

“Moving It Forward – Possible is Everything”, our campaign theme this year, exemplifies what we do here for our students each and every day. When students decide to enroll at Lawrence Tech, they are making one of the most important investments in their future they will ever make. It is our job and challenge to assure their return on that investment by enhancing academic achievement, developing innovative programs and funding leading edge research, among other university initiatives. As the intrinsic value of the degrees we award increases, as evidenced by such measures as BloombergBusinessweek, so does the reputation of this university. This is a great thing, for all of us.

Last year, your generous support to the campaign raised over $127,000 in gifts and pledges. That is a remarkable accomplishment. In addition to the benefits to students your gifts provide, your generosity shows the outside community we here at Lawrence Tech care enough to support our students. This carries a lot of weight with corporations and foundations, which before deciding to donate or provide grants and funding to, look to see what percentage of employees support the institutions they are asked to donate to. Your giving is a powerful message that since the Lawrence Tech family supports the university, they should too.

Our university has been challenged these last few years, yet your continued support of this campaign shows how much you believe in this university and its purpose. Your support, past and future, is essential to our ability to progress during these challenging times. Let us move forward together, doing all we can to help every student accomplish their goals and dreams.

Thank you for your wonderful generosity and continued good work.

Marburger Challenge

Dr. Richard E. Marburger, Co-Chair of last year's campaign, had created the Marburger Challenge Gift last year.  Dr. Marburger personally pledged $15,000.00 as a challenge gift to all employees, conditioned on reaching last year's goals. As not all the goals were met, 1/2 of the challenge was paid. Let's do our best to gain the remaing $7,500 this year by reaching $125,000 and 55% participation!

I can clearly see the great value of gifts to the Faculty/Staff Campaign.   I am happy to participate.  Day after day, I observe the positive impact we have on the quality of life our graduates will experience and the contributions they will make to the national well-being.  Here in the Dean’s Office, we are proud of the excellence of the classroom presentations and the very relevant laboratory exercises.  We on the Engineering Dean’s Office Team do our utmost to make certain that the students face a minimum of administrative problems.  Every dollar contributed is used wisely to optimize the contributions our graduates will make to solve the problems of the State of Michigan and the United States of America.  Give generously!  Thanks!!
