Reunion Class Chair Duties

Lawrence Tech Reunion Class Chairs are alumni who are engaged with campus, stay in close contact with LTU friends, are well-organized, and are willing to give to the University and solicit gifts from their friends and classmates.  They are leaders in the sense that they set goals for their class and recruit supporters. They are enthusiastic Lawrence Tech alumni and excited to help!

Benefits of serving as a Reunion Class Chair

  • Reconnecting with former classmates and the University
  • Raising necessary funds that support an outstanding educational institution
  • Enlisting class unity
  • Recognition as Chair should your class come in first place in participation and/or total giving

Reunion Chair Responsibilities

  • Make an annual gift to the LTU Annual Fund, or another program or designation, at a level that is personally significant to you.
  • Share your LTU story to be used in outgoing publications the Annual Giving Office prepares segmented to your class (i.e. fundraising emails/letters). Chairs that are local may be asked to film a video interview.

Other Strategies for Success

  • Build connections between Lawrence Tech and your classmates through ongoing communications:
    • Engagement:
      • Encourage classmates to complete a “Life After Lawrence Tech” form online ( Paper copies will be available for those who cannot access the online form.
      • Promote the Challenge to classmates on social media (for those who use Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
      • Attend and encourage classmates to attend campus and local events when available throughout the upcoming academic year, especially during Homecoming Week (September 25-30, 2017). This includes the True Blue Reunion Brunch on Saturday, September 30.
    • Giving:
      • Recruit committee members to help in the competition and “join” in asking classmates
      • Provide input on outgoing publications the Annual Giving Office prepares segmented to your class; i.e. emails/letters the Annual Giving Office sends out
      • Recruit leadership giving amongst classmates, if applicable
      • Reach out to those that can match gifts, example: one classmate says they will donate $5,000 if class participation reaches 50%, or one says they will match once class has raised $2,500.
      • Thank classmates for their gifts with emails, phone calls, or personal notes.

As needed, Lawrence Tech will provide:

  • Staff support in the Alumni Relations and Annual Giving office
  • A list of classmates with contact information
  • A monthly gift report for classmates
  • Samples of fundraising letters, social media outreach ideas and other Lawrence Tech communications
